Board Members

Laurens Prins

Laurens Prins started his career as a corporate and commercial litigation lawyer. He has worked in private practice, in-house litigation counsel, and as a judge. He currently holds part-time positions with Linklaters LLP, as a senior practice development lawyer, with the District Court in Limburg, as a replacement-judge, and as a director of Oak Academy for AI in the Legal Profession, a non-profit initiative to educate legal practitioners on the challenges and opportunities of generative AI.

José Jaime Villalobos

Dr. José Jaime Villalobos is Multilateral Governance Lead at the Future of Life Institute. He is also a Senior Research Affiliate with the Centre for International Governance Innovation’s Global AI Risk Initiative, as well as a Research Affiliate at the Oxford Martin AI Governance Initiative and the Institute for Law & AI. His research focuses on the intersection between international law and extreme risks.

Tyler Whitmer

Tyler Whitmer started his career as a commercial litigator, spending over 15 years as associate and then partner at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP. After taking some time off, he agreed to join Effective Ventures Foundation USA, Inc. to work as the 501(c)(3) public charity’s first General Counsel. Tyler left that role at the end of 2023 to start LASST, looking for an opportunity to leverage his experience as a litigator and advocate to make the world a better place.
